Torrox Clean Up Campaign

Torrox Ayuntamiento has launched a campaign to improve the co-operation of residents in keeping the streets clean. In particular the recurring problem of picking up after your dog.

Councillor for Environment, Lauren Salvatierra, said that “if we all do our part we will make sure our town reaches the desired level of cleanliness, especially considering that we are in a tourist area where this is an very important. ”

The campaign encourages owners to pick up after their pets with an information campaign through vets and pet shops as well as the distribution of leaflets and bags.

The profile of this campaign has also been stressed to the Local Police who will increase patrols and issue €150 fines to offenders.

Apart from being unpleasant and unsightly dog faeces are a health risk to other animals and people. In particular intestinal worms can be transmitted, usually by eggs in the faeces, to other animals and also to humans. It is time to take responsibility for your pet, pushing it out of the door to let it foul the streets is not acceptable, PICK UP EVERY TIME.

Pest Control Saves Ayuntamiento €12,000

Torrox Ayuntamiento has signed a new deal for the control of insects, pests and legionella in Schools, Municipal Facilities and Public Buildings. Councillor for Environment, Lauren Salvatierra, explained that the new agreement costing €16,000 represents a €12,000 saving over the previous agreement.
